So I've got a little thing to say on the question of Week 8. The topic was really hard for a lot of people.

I can tell, because there were a lot of drops and byes, and a lot of those entries where people just muse on the topic title, instead of having a more developed and focused entry.

Out in my backyard, I split the ends of firm sticks, one by one, gluing little bits of foam to the opposing tips. The longest, most flexible stick was split on either end, a bit of twine running along its length and tied firmly with two knots ( Read more... )

 This was the beginning of her story. She had a small conflict, one that immediately invited audiences to become engaged with her tale, and to sympathize with her as a character.
